The Postgraduate Program in Computer Science, through the scientific journal Conocimiento e Innovación, has awarded the prize for the best Doctoral Thesis defended during the previous calendar year. This recognition particularly considers the impact of the scientific publications associated with the doctoral research.
In this edition, the jury decided to grant the award to the thesis entitled:
“Modeling and management of energy consumption in a fault-tolerant high-performance computing system”
by Dr. Marina Morán.
The thesis was supervised by Dr. Dolores Rexachs, Dr. Javier Balladini, and Dr. Enzo Rucci, and focuses on the study and development of models and strategies to optimize energy consumption in High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems, incorporating fault-tolerance mechanisms. This type of research is particularly relevant in the current context, where energy efficiency and system reliability are key factors in the design and operation of modern supercomputing infrastructures.
