Maialen Marin Lacarta, Ph.D in Sinology by the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in Paris, and Ph.D. in Translation and Intercultural Studies by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Her doctoral dissertation explores the history of translation of Chinese modern and contemporary literature in Spain, as well as the complex position of this literature in the global literary system. She has published several academic articles on this topic. She has also taken degree and postgraduate courses at the universities of Burdeaux III, Sheffield, Peking, Taiwan National and Taiwan Chengchi. She has worked as teacher and researcher at the INALCO and as consultant at the Open University of Catalonia. She has translated Shen Congwen’s Calma (Alpha Decay, 2010) and La ciudad fronteriza (Edicions Bellaterra, 2013). She has collaborated in the translation and revision of Los brigadistas chinos en la guerra civil: la llamada de España (1936-1939), written by Ni Huiru and Zou Ningyuan (Catarata, 2013). In January 2013 she received the Jokin Zaitegi award for the translation with Aiora Jaka of an excerpt from a work by Mo Yan into euskara. Its publication is scheduled for late 2013: Maisua gero eta umoretsuago dago (Elkar).
