Igor Bogdanovic

Research

PhD in History from UAB, Master’s in Archaeological Research Methodology, and Bachelor’s in Archaeology. He has dedicated his research to two different but complementary lines. On one hand, issues of collective identity and continuity and discontinuity in the past have led him to study contemporary nationalisms, resulting in a doctoral thesis (The Instrumentalization of the Past in the Present. The Construction of Collective Identities in the Central Balkans in the History of Serbian Archaeology, UAB, 2011) and two popular science books (Els Balcans, UOC ed., Barcelona, 2005; and Los procesos balcánicos. Entre la integridad territorial de los estados y la libertad de los pueblos, Salvat, 56, Barcelona, 2019), among other contributions.

On the other hand, in the field of archaeological research methodology and the application of digital technologies in the study and preservation of heritage, he has participated in various research projects led by the Department of Prehistory at UAB. Notable among the results is the co-edition (with J.A. Barceló) of the book Mathematics in Archaeology, CRC Press 2020, and a series of articles on the modulation of archaeological time. He also participates in the research of the La Draga and Les Coves del Fem sites with the corresponding scientific production.

Currently, he works as a Senior Research Technician in the Digital Laboratory of UAB Open Labs, where he teaches 3D and VR technologies for various degrees and master’s programs at UAB, advises members of the UAB community on the design and implementation of the digital aspects of projects, and participates in digital innovation projects, such as Intermedit.
