Research

Specialist in the relations between Jews and non-Jews in Europe and contemporary Spain, PhD in Social Anthropology from the UAB and later Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Humanities, UPF. He completed his postgraduate training at the Central European University, University of Budapest, and the Oxford Center for Hebrew and Jewish Studies, University of Oxford. He is particularly interested in the link between political and legal processes and the symbolic-conceptual dimension of the definition of identities in the context of power relations between socio-religious groups. He has obtained funding for research projects from the Center for Contemporary History of Catalonia, the Inventory of Ethnological Heritage of Catalonia, the Center for Jewish Studies at UCLA and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses (degree and master’s) at the universities of Perpignan (France, 2000-02), Uzbekistan (Central Asia, 2002-04), Autònoma de Barcelona (2007-13), and Pompeu Fabra (2011- 2013).
