Perfect discrimination of quantum states is, in general, not possible. The usual ways of addressing the problem is either minimizing the error probability or maximizing the confidence of the outcomes (which in some cases coincides with unambiguous discrimination). Introducing the inconclusive outcome probability as a parameter the problem can be restated in a more general form, which includes those extremal schemes. Under this approach we have solved the case of N symmetric pure qudits.
