María Angélica Peñas Defago

PhD in Law and Social Sciences, National University of Cordoba, Argentina. Assistant Professor of Legal Sociology, School of Law, National University of Cordoba. Researcher of the Sexual and Reproductive Rights Program, School of Law, UNC. Post-doctorate Fellow of the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research, Argentina (CONICET / CIJS-UNC).

She has a Diploma in Social Sciences with a specialization in Gender and Public Policies, Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO, Argentina). She has participated in different national and international research projects with a focus on sexuality, gender, human rights and religion. Currently she is investigator of the project “Legal Abortion in Latin America”, based on Bergen University, Norway.  Her main research topics are public policies on sexual and reproductive rights with focus on gender, sexuality and their overlaping with discussions about religion. Her recent publications include the study of conservative religious actors in the sexual and reprductives rights debates, especially in relation to acting in and / or from national and international legal forums.
