Carmen Nieves Pérez Sánchez
Carmen Nieves Pérez Sánchez is a professor of Sociology of Education at the ULL. Her main research fields are sociocultural inequality and education; in particular, the study of the influence of social class and gender in educational opportunities; academic performance (success, failure and school dropout), sociocultural inequality and family models. She is currently leading a research project on School Experiences of Secondary Students and Social Inequality.
She has participated in 6 research projects, 3 of which are directly related to the problem of social inequality and education. She has published 3 books and more than 20 articles in scientific journals. She also acts as referee of international and national journals and she has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Canary Institute for Educational Evaluation and Quality. She has been the president of the organizing committee of the First International Conference on School Experiences and Social Inequality organized at the University of La Laguna.
