Manuel Ángel Río Ruiz
Professor at the Sociology Department from the University of Seville. PhD in Sociology with honours. Member of the Inequality Observatory of Andalusia. Author of more than twenty peer-reviewed articles on inequalities in education opportunities covering the following topics: interethnic relations within the education system, school absenteeism, school/family relations, school labelling processes and, more recently, the impact of grant policies and cash transfer on school opportunities. Principal investigator of several projects addressing these topics. Other research interest and publications concern collective action, ethnic conflicts, ethnicity, and the Gipsy community in Spain. Member of the academic commission of the PhD program in Economic and Social Sciences at the University of Seville. Visiting professor at the Guadalajara University (México).
