Simone Deslarzes

I am a second year Ph.D. candidate in sociology at the University of Toulouse
Jean Jaurès (France). Parallel to this position, I am currently employed by the
French government as a research analyst studying the professional integration
of young immigrant women into the workforce in Toulouse, France’s fourth
largest city.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I completed a bachelor’s degree in 2013 majoring
in Sociology and French Studies at Wellesley College in Boston, Massachusetts
(USA). Upon graduating, I moved to France to begin working as a civil servant
for the French government in public administration. Later on in 2017 I earned
my master’s degree in public policy with a focus in gender equality from the
University of Toulouse Jean Jaurès.
My research interests revolve around social reproduction, spatial segregation,
systemic discrimination, and how public policy can either work against or
reinforce these concepts for vulnerable populations in cities.
