This year, under the name “Towards a new Mediterranean agenda: dynamics and actors at stake”, the seminar will be held on 30 and 31 March at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans.
The session organized by the Master Erasmus Plus of the Department Crossing the Mediterranean: towards investment and integration (MIM), will be entitled “Media of the Mediterranean: actors and social construction of reality” and will take place on Friday, March 31, 9:00 to 11:00. Teresa Velázquez, academic coordinator of the Master, will take part as moderator in the session, and as speakers: Ricardo Carniel, professor of the Master and of the Department, who will speak on the thematic agenda of the media in the Mediterranean; Ahmad Abdul-Kareem Shaban, a Syrian journalist and doctoral student at the University of Málaga UMA, who will review the different media views of the Syrian conflict and, finally, El Houssine Majdoubi, doctor in journalism and director of Alifpost.com, who will discuss the agenda of the main media in the Western Mediterranean (Morocco and Spain and Algeria and France). The doctoral students of the Department, Miguel Gámez and Estibaliz Ortega, will also participate in the session as commentators.
The Seminar is part of the cycle of lectures that are programmed throughout the course, coordinated by the IEMed where participate Masters and postgraduate studies from Catalonia that address, from various disciplines, studies related to the Mediterranean region. This interdisciplinary research seminar is the meeting point of all university studies participating in the program.
