Ahmed Munawir Albarkani is a PhD student in Molecular Biomedicine (MolBioMed) at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Our research is positioned at the cutting edge of precision medicine, specifically focusing on the development of spatiotemporal photopharmacology. By integrating high-level Quantum Chemistry calculations with Machine Learning (ML) and Python-based automation, We aims to revolutionize the screening and design of light-activated therapeutic agents.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Ahmed earned his MSc in Chemistry from Jouf University, where he specialized in nanostructured materials for photochemistry, disinfection, sustainable electrochemistry. Ahmed Munawir Albarkani’s research focuses on the advancement of spatiotemporal photopharmacology, where he develops light-controlled molecules to achieve precise command over drug activity. By integrating computational chemistry to model electronic transitions and non-adiabatic coupling in photosensitive molecules, he utilizes machine learning and high-throughput screening via scikit-learn to accelerate the discovery of optimized therapeutic candidates. His work aims to engineer next-generation therapeutics that minimize systemic toxicity through localized, precision activation.
