2026-2027 academic year

Teaching

At MolBioMed, teaching is an essential part of our work. Group members teach physical chemistry at the UAB Faculty of Science and School of Engineering, from quantum chemistry and thermodynamics to biomolecular simulation. Many of these subjects are the very tools we use every day in our research, and bringing them into the classroom lets us teach them as they are really used and spark vocations: many of the students who have done their bachelor’s or master’s thesis or PhD with us first met us in class.

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry

2nd year · Compulsory · 6 ECTS

Fundamentals of quantum mechanics and their application to the structure of atoms and molecules. Includes computational chemistry lab sessions with electronic structure and potential energy surface calculations.

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry

2nd year · Compulsory · 6 ECTS

Application of the laws of thermodynamics to chemical systems through chemical potential, phase equilibria and solutions, with an introduction to statistical thermodynamics and chemical kinetics.

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry

4th year · Elective · 6 ECTS

Introduction to molecular modelling of biological systems: molecular mechanics, conformational sampling and protein–ligand interactions, with applications to drug design and biotechnology.

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry

1st year · Core · 8 ECTS

Introductory course that levels high-school chemistry knowledge and lays the foundations for the rest of the degree.

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry
