Dr. Ivan Montes-Gonzalez obtained the B.Sc. in Physics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2016. He obtained his M.E. and Ph.D. in Optical Engineering at the Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (ICAT, UNAM) in 2018 and 2022, respectively. His main research lines include the development of different experimental techniques to characterize the optical properties of Liquid Crystals and the design, optimization, calibration and implementation of Stokes and Mueller polarimeters.
Nowadays his main research interest has been centered on the application of polarimetric systems to biological samples examination. Analyzing the potential of spectroscopic and polarimetric systems for the study of anti-cancer compounds in preclinical cancer models. Currently he is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he is working on the implementation of an imaging polarimeter intended to be used as a compact tool for biomedical diagnosis, in particular for skin pathologies.
