In the last years, she has worked in the control of the external degrees of freedom of matter waves and in the use of ultracold atoms in optical lattices as quantum simulators. She has 80 peer-reviewed publications with more than 3900 citations (31/1/2025) and is co-author with Prof. M. Lewenstein and Prof. A. Sanpera of the book Ultracold atoms in optical lattices: simulating quantum many body physics, Oxford University Press 2012.
V.A. has supervised 8 PhD Thesis (presently supervising 2 more), 9 Master Thesis and 33 final degree works (3 more under elaboration). She has been awarded with the PhD extraordinary award and the excellence research award of the UAB.
From January 2011 to April 2014, V. A. was academic coordinator of the Physics degree and of the double degrees of Physics-Mathematics and Physics-Chemistry of the UAB and from June 2014 to September 2016, she was vice-dean of the Science Faculty of the same university. From July 2016 to July 2018, she was scientific collaborator of the Agencia Estatal de Investigación. Since January 2021 she is academic coordinator at the UAB of the Interuniversity Photonics master and the Europhotonics master.
