Javier earned his BSc in Physics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He then pursued a double master’s degree in Photonics at Aix-Marseille University (AMU) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). For his MSc thesis, conducted at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), he designed and built a high-dimensional entangled photon source based on orbital angular momentum, which he used for characterizing custom-made few-mode optical fibres.
He joined the group in November 2024, and his main research interests include high-dimensional quantum communications, entanglement distribution, and nonlinear quantum sensing.
