
He holds a degree in Political Science and Sociology from the Complutense University (1990), and a PhD in Political Science and Sociology from the UNED, and was awarded an extraordinary doctorate prize from that University in 2000. Professor of Sociology since 2002, he has developed his teaching and research work at the Complutense University, as research staff between 1991 and 1994, at the University of Vigo – 1995 to 2006 – and at the Pablo de Olavide University (UPO), where he is currently a professor. He has been a member of the Academic Committee of the Doctorate in Social Sciences -2019 to 2022- and of the University’s Research Committee. He has been awarded three sexenios by the CNEAI, the last one granted in 2018.
Her areas of specialisation are: rural sociology; development, territory and environment; territorial and national identities; political sociology; gender; sociology of sport. She is a specialist in qualitative research. He has published several books and articles on these topics and has supervised doctoral theses.
He has been President of the Rural Sociology Research Committee of the Spanish Federation of Sociology between 2004 and 2009; Deputy Director between 2010 and 2013 of the Department of Social Sciences and from 2019 to 2023 Secretary of the Department of Sociology at the University Pablo de Olavide. He has been Coordinator of the Master in Socio-Political Studies at the UPO. He has participated in numerous research projects in his fields of specialisation, both at regional, Spanish (National R&D Plan) and international level.
