
Manuel Ángel Río Ruiz is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Seville. He was awarded an extraordinary PhD prize for a thesis on anti-Roma mobilisations in Spain. He has received grants for long-term research stays such as the one carried out at the UAB during 2023 and 2024 in the framework of the European Programme for the Re-qualification of Teaching Staff. He is a member of the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme in Economics, Business and Social Sciences at the University of Seville. He currently has three six-year research periods recognised by the CNEI (ANECA). He is a member and was director between 2011 and 2018 of the official research group Dominación y Desigualdades Sociales, whose website (https://entramadossociales.org/perfil/manolo-rio-ruiz/) contains his scientific production framed in two lines of research: inequality of educational opportunities and ethnicism in contemporary Spain.
