The National University of Colombia (UNAL), at its headquarters in Bogotá, hosted last Friday a meeting of the new Executive Committee of the Ibero-American University Association of Postgraduate Studies (AUIP), chaired by the rector of the Pablo de Olavide University since the Assembly held in Seville in May 2024.
During the meeting, projects such as the collaboration with the Ibero-American General Secretariat to create, together with the AUIP, an Ibero-American Postgraduate and Doctoral School, with the aim of promoting high quality collaborative doctoral programmes in strategic areas of knowledge, were discussed. The budget for 2025 was also presented, which must be approved by the next AUIP General Assembly, to be held at the National University of Cordoba (Argentina).
In the social and cultural sphere, Miguel Ángel Castro, rector of the University of Seville and former president of AUIP, presented his project to join forces within the Association with a view to the celebration of two centenaries, that of the Ibero-American Exhibition in Seville in 1929 and that of the Generation of ‘27, in which the city of Seville was also a protagonist.
During the meeting, which was attended by 25 representatives from 17 universities, six new institutions were also approved to join the Association, and the Executive Committee congratulated the AU’s administrative team for its work on the renewal of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Certificate.

At the end of the meeting, a collaboration agreement was signed with the Consortium of Mexican Universities, thanks to which the CUMex-AUIP International Chair will be launched. This agreement aims to facilitate academic and scientific collaboration between universities and higher education institutions that are members of CUMex and the Ibero-American universities associated with the AUIP. In addition, it seeks to promote the creation of joint chairs in strategic areas for the development of science and technology of the participating universities.
