
PhD in Political Science and Sociology from the UNED, having received the extraordinary doctorate award from that University in 2000. Associate Professor of Sociology since 2002, he has carried out his teaching and research work at different universities. He is currently a lecturer at Pablo de Olavide University (UPO). His areas of specialisation are rural sociology; development, territory and environment; territorial and national identities; gender. He is a specialist in qualitative research. He has published several books and articles on these subjects.
He was president of the Rural Sociology Research Committee of the Spanish Federation of Sociology between 2004 and 2009. He has directed and participated in numerous research projects in his fields of specialisation, both at regional, Spanish (National R&D Plan) and international level. He has supervised five doctoral theses, all of them with the highest marks. Member of the Research and Study Group Southern and Mediterranean Europe of the European Society for Rural Sociology and promoter of the UPO – UNAM Collaboration Agreement.
