Maria Vittoria Calvi

Maria Vittoria Calvi has a long experience in research and university teaching. She is Full Professor of Spanish Linguistics and Translation at the University of Milan, Department of Language Mediation and Intercultural Communication (Dipartimento di Scienze della Mediazione linguistica e di Studi interculturali SMeLSI). She is Editor-in Chief of the journal Cuadernos AISPI. Estudios de lenguas y literaturas hispánicas and Corresponding Academician for Italy of the Real Academia Española de la Lengua.

Her main research interests are: Sociolinguistics, with special attention to Linguistic Landscape as an expression of social action and identity negotiation in migration contexts; Contrastive Linguistics of Spanish and Italian; Genre Analysis and cross-cultural variations in professional and specialised discourse. Her latest work is entitled “Negotiating languages, identities and space in Hispanic Linguistic Landscape in Milan”, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development (2019).
