Ruth León-Pinilla is a lecturer in the Department of Translation, Interpreting, and East Asian Studies at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where she has been teaching interpreting courses since 2024.

For 12 years, she was an associate professor in the Area of Translation and Languages at the European University of Valencia, where she taught consecutive Interpreting, Translation from English and French into Spanish, as well as English & Spanish as Foreign Languages. She was also the founder and director of UBUNTU – Solidarity Translation Agency. Additionally, she has collaborated as a lecturer at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and the Universitat de València. She has also worked as a senior research technician in the Department of Social Psychology at the Universitat de València on a project about dance and wellbeing.

Ruth holds a PhD in International Studies on Peace, Conflict, and Development from the Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, with a dissertation on interpreting in refugee contexts and wellbeing. She also holds a Magister Artium in English and Romance Studies from the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, a postgraduate degree in Conference Interpreting from the University of Leeds, a postgraduate degree in Audiovisual Translation from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and a specialization in Conflict Studies from the UNESCO Chair of Philosophy for Peace at the Universitat Jaume I.

Her research interests focus on interpreting in asylum and refugee contexts, wellbeing, and embodied education applied to interpreter training. She has participated in research projects on interpreting in asylum and refugee contexts, public service interpreting, wellbeing, emotions, physical activity, dance, and educational innovation.
