The Mission of the CEO‑UAB
The Olympic Studies Centre of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (CEO‑UAB) is a university-based research centre established by the UAB in 1989 in response to the challenge posed by Barcelona’s designation as host city of the XXV Olympiad.
Currently, the CEO‑UAB is an international centre of the UAB devoted to research, education, documentation, and outreach activities, both in Barcelona and internationally. Its mission is to advance understanding of how Olympic values, the Olympic Games as a global event, and sport can contribute to building a better society.
Through research, teaching, the organization of outreach activities, the production of academic resources, and improved access to these resources, the CEO‑UAB aims to support the development of practices and policies in the fields of sport and the Olympic phenomenon.
In this way, the Olympic Studies Centre of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona seeks to establish itself as an international reference centre in the field of Olympic studies, promoting and supporting research in this area, educating future professionals, and facilitating access to high‑quality academic resources.
