
Carlos Diz is a lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Communication Sciences at the Universidade da Coruña (UDC). He is a member of the Societies in Motion Research Team (ESOMI) and of the Inter-University Centre for Atlantic Cultural Landscapes (CISPAC). With a degree in Sociology and a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology, his main areas of interest are collective action and social movements, urban studies, the political anthropology of the body, the study of migration and im/mobilities, and ethnographic fieldwork. His doctoral thesis Políticas y tácticas del cuerpo: retablos de la ciudad activista (2016) was awarded the qualification of Cum Laude and the Extraordinary Award of the University of A Coruña. His latest publications include the papers “On delivery waiting: The entanglement of gig and border temporalities in platform cities” (2024. Environment and Planning D: Society and Space, with Maribel Casas-Cortés) and “Caring Democracy Now: Neighbourhood Support Networks in the Wake of the 15-M” (2023. Social Movement Studies, with Brais Estévez and Raquel Martínez-Buján), and the book “No nos vamos, nos echan”: las luchas contra la precariedad de la nueva diáspora española (2024. Tirant lo Blanch, with Belén Fernández-Suárez).
