
MIRAS researchers have participated in the eleventh edition of the EST, a congress organized by the European Society for Translation Studies, held in Leeds from 30 June to 4 July 2025. EST is a highly regarded conference within the academic community, and this edition has focused on the transformations experienced by translation and interpreting—as well as the disciplines concerned with studying said fields.
Researchers Sofía García-Beyaert and Ruth León-Pinilla presented Gesturing study interpreters: research-based teaching innovation in collaboration with Monika Chawlczuk (University of East Anglia). Furthermore, Ana Isabel Pérez-Real, Marc Miranda and Mireia Vargas-Urpí shared some results of the CIMAS project with the presentation Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Intercultural Communication in Catalonia’s Healthcare Through Evidence-Based Insights.
Finally, predoctoral researcher Ana Isabel Pérez-Real showed some results of her research with the communication Voice Matters: Addressing the Essential Role of Voice Training for Conference Interpreters,and fellow doctoral student Marc Miranda did the same with Encoding Miscommunication: A Proposal of Indicators for Non-Professional Healthcare Interpreting.
