Marta Arumí Ribas

PhD in Translation and Interpreting from Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Research interests: didactics and training of conference interpreters, with a special emphasis on learning processes and self-regulation; cognitive processes in conference interpreting; public service interpreting and intercultural mediation.

Carmen Bestué Salinas

PhD in Translation Theory from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where she received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award.

Research interests: legal translation and public service interpreting, subjects on which she has published numerous specialized articles in national and international journals and has supervised several doctoral theses.

Albert Branchadell Gallo

PhD in Catalan Linguistics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and in Political Sciences from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where he completed the doctoral program in Political and Social Theory.

Research interests: theoretical linguistics, sociolinguistics, translation studies and political philosophy applied to language policy, especially in connection to regional or minority languages. He is a member of the Societat Catalana de Sociolingüística, a branch of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, and is currently the member in respect of Spain of the Committee of Experts of the Council of Europe’s European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages.

Sofía García-Beyaert

PhD in Public policy —with an international mention— from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain.

Research interests: public policy and the institutionalization of interpreting, professional models and ethical standards in interpreting, interpreter training and pedagogical innovation, mediated intercultural communication in healthcare settings. She is an author of the foundational textbook The Community Interpreter, the proponent of the concept of communicative autonomy and the lead and initiator for the ongoing action-research project Situated Dialogues.

Anna Gil Bardají

PhD in Translation Theory from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Her PhD Traducir al-Andalus: el discurso del Otro en el arabismo español. De Conde a García Gómez (2007)[Translating al-Andalus: the Discourse of the Other in the Spanish Arabism. From Conde to García Gómez], analyzed the role of the translation from Arabic in Spain during the XVIII, XIX, and XX centuries.

Research interests: Orientalism, Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), translation theory and history and Public Service Interpreting. 

Ruth León Pinilla

PhD in International Peace, Conflict and Development Studies from Universitat Jaume I, with the dissertation La interpretación en el contexto de refugiados: camino hacia el bienestar [Interpreting in Refugee Contexts: A Pathway to Well-Being].

Research interests: interpreting in asylum and refugee contexts, well-being, emotions, and embodied education in interpreter training.

Liudmila Navtanovich

PhD in Russian Philology from Saint-Petersburg State University.

Research interests: the Russian and Slavic Studies, especially the history of the Old Slavonic and Old Russian translations, on which she has many publications, including three books (as an author and co-author).

Almudena Nevado Llopis

PhD in Translation, Communication and Society, with a thesis focused on communication in reproductive healthcare settings.

Research interests: interpreting in public services, mainly, on the healthcare field, interpreting in contexts of asylum and refugee, the process of the emotional impact of interpreters, and the intercultural competence development.

Mariana Orozco Jutorán

PhD in Translation and Interpreting and won the special doctoral award of the UAB with Instrumentos de medida de la adquisición de la competencia traductora: construcción y validación [Instruments for measuring the acquisition of translation competence: construction and validation.].

Research interests: judicial interpretation, specialized judicial translatin, and teaching direct translation from English.

Gema Rubio Carbonero

PhD in Linguistic Communication and Multilingual Mediation from Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Research interests: mediated intercultural communication in public services, diversity, multilinguism, and public discourse analysis.

Abdallah Tagourramt El Kbaich

PhD in Linguistic, Literary and Cultural Studies from the Universitat de Barcelona.  

Research interests: translation role in the construction of cultural identities, and how translation practices have an impact on the representation and setting of diversity in different stages of the Arabic world history. He made a contribution to various research projects focused on translation innovation and linguistic accessibility.

Mireia Vargas Urpí

PhD in Intercultural Translation and Studies from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and belongs to the research groups GELEA2LT, TXICC and MIRAS. 

Research interests: digital literacy on teaching Chinese as an additional language, translation and interpreting from Chinese to Catalan (including interpreting in public services and intercultural mediation), and topics related to intercultural communication. She published multiple articles, many of them as a collaboration with other members from the MIRAS group.
