Associate Professor at the Department of Genetics and Microbiology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

I did the doctorate in the Group of Mutagenesis of the Autonomous University of Barcelona with the study of genotoxicity of different compounds in Drosophila, and I obtained the PhD in 1987.

My postdoctoral training focused on the field of genomic instability, addressing different aspects in order to understand the mechanisms that generate such instability.  In a first stage with a Fulbright scholarship at the University of California, Davis, studying DNA repair in Drosophila as a key mechanism in the genotoxic processes. The second postdoctoral stage was performed at the California Institute for Biological Research, La Jolla, with a CSIC scholarship to study genomic instability in cancer.

Currently, my research is conducted in the general field of the Mutagenesis centred on the study of genetic cancer risk factors, analyzing the factors of response to genetic damage, and the analysis of the risk of nanomaterials. This research is funded by national and European projects.

I have published the research work in 74 articles in international journals of recognized prestige. My contribution in the training of graduate students is also indicated by leading research work at master’s and doctoral theses.
