Sandra Fachelli

Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Pablo de Olavide University (accredited as a full professor). Postdoctoral degree in Social Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), PhD in Sociology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Diploma in Advanced Studies in Sociology and Master’s Degree in Introduction to Research in Sociology (UAB), Master’s Degree in Design and Management of Social Policies and Programmes (FLACSO Argentina).

Teaching coordinator and lecturer on the Master’s Degree in Applied Social Research Techniques (TISA), jointly coordinated by the UAB and the University of Barcelona. She is currently vice-president of RC55 ‘Social Indicators’ of the International Sociological Association (ISA) and a member of the Board of RC28 ‘Social Stratification’. She is president of CI41 ‘Comparative Sociology between Europe and Latin America’ of the Spanish Federation of Sociology (FES). She was president of the CI 06 Research Committee ‘Inequality and Social Stratification’ of the FES between 2020 and 2024.

She is Subcoordinator of the INCASI2 project (https://webs.uab.cat/incasi/en) International Network for the Comparative Analysis of Social Inequalities, GA 101130456 of the Horizon Europe programme, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), in which 29 organisations participate: 14 European universities from 6 countries (Spain, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Finland and Great Britain), 11 Latin American and Caribbean universities from 7 countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Cuba, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil and Mexico) and 4 non-academic organisations (Latinobarómetro, ECLAC, CLACSO and LAPOP).

Main research interests: inequality, stratification and social mobility, higher education and work.
