The Guide aims to facilitate inter-university communication and improve the quality of the institutional English-language documents that we produce for international readers. It is also aimed at helping our community to strengthen its knowledge of the English language and acquire the linguistic competence in English that is widely considered to be necessary.
Loosely modelled on existing style manuals (including the English Style Guide of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation and The Chicago Manual of Style), the Guide is organised into different sections addressing specific and general aspects of language style. These sections have been repeated in this online adaptation of the Guide.
