Blai Guarné, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and the Coordinator of the East Asian Studies Program at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where he also serves as the Secretary of the CERAO (East Asian Studies & Research Center). Previously, he has been a Juan de la Cierva Postdoctoral Fellow (MINECO) at the Department of Translation and Interpretation & East Asian Studies (UAB), Visiting Fellow at the National Museum of Ethnology in Japan (Minpaku) (Japan), Postdoctoral Scholar (AGAUR-DURSI) in the Department of Anthropology at Stanford University (USA), and Visiting Researcher (Monbukagakushō) in the Department of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Tokyo (Japan). He is the Convener of the Media Studies Section at the EAJS (European Association for Japanese Studies), Officer of the JAWS (Japan Anthropology Workshop), member of the Committee on Universities and Research, Pla Japó 2016-2019 (Generalitat de Catalunya), and Editor-in-Chief and Director of the Book Series Biblioteca de Estudios Japoneses (CERAO-UAB, Ediciones Bellaterra) sponsored by the Japan Foundation (Government of Japan).
