Maria Elena Carné (1952-2014) graduated in Translation and Interpreting at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2006) and was a PhD student in Translation and Intercultural Studies by the same university. Since October 2007 she was a translation lecturer at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She also worked as a translator and a proofreader.
 

Her research interests focused on studies of contemporary Catalan translation, specially those based on the translators Jordi Arbonès and Montserrat Abelló. Carné was a member of the Càtedra Jordi Arbonès, and edited the collected letters Jordi Arbonès – Manuel de Pedrolo, published in January 2011 by both Punctum and the research group GETCC.
